KEMA’s High-Power Laboratory is the largest independent short-circuit laboratory in the world where short-circuit tests are carried out on equipment for transmission and distribution networks. Global manufacturers and electric utilities are customers who rely on KEMA for development, acceptance tests and certification testing. The tests are conducted in consultation with the customer and in collaboration with a team of employees. The teams operate in day and night shifts. We are looking for an operator who is ready to take a dynamic job with a great deal of responsibility.

What you will do

As a Generator Operator at KEMA Labs, your main responsibilities will include:

  • With your colleagues you will ensure the availability and reliability of the technical installations across the site.

  • During testing, you will be in the lead of the machine building controlling the short circuit generator. Therefore, you will need to have an overview in the control room and be in close contact with the testing team.

  • If a failure occurs during the shift, you need to be able to fix it with the cooperation of your colleagues, by looking up what the failure is and taking appropriate action. This could be both electrical and mechanical work.

  • During standby duty you will perform work in the entire installation. In the field of control systems and mechanical engineering. This includes generator maintenance.

    As a Generator Operator, you will be responsible for the six generator groups that we use for short circuit testing and will work closely with colleagues from maintenance and operations.

Among all your other talents, your key knowledge and experience is:

  • Intermediate Technical School Electrical engineering degree / MBO niveau 3/4 Elektrotechniek

  • Interest in high voltage / power current engineering

  • Flexible attitude with respect to working hours (willing to do night shifts and occasional overtime)

  • Ability to work both in teams and independently

  • Ability to work under stress with high responsibility of executing tests correctly and accurately in cooperation with the test engineer.

  • Good written and verbal command of the English language. Native Dutch is preferred. Command of the German language is a benefit.
