We advise on cable system planning, selecting, and quality assurance of specific cable designs. We work independently alongside cable manufacturers and users, without producing cables or components ourselves.

We are looking for an experienced Consultant / Engineer (m/f/d) with extensive experience in land and subsea cable technology to strengthen our “Power Cable” team.

DNV is expanding its activities in Asset Management, driven by wind park installations and interconnectors, where land and subsea cables play a crucial role. Responsibilities range from quality aspects during planning and permitting, manufacturing and installation oversight, to fault analysis during operation.

As a Consultant / Engineer in Land and Subsea Cable Technology, you will be part of the “Power Cable” team within the “Asset Management & Digital System Operation” department in the “Power Grids” division, helping our clients achieve sustainable, top-tier asset management processes and performance.

You will provide engineering services and consulting mainly for clients in the utility industry in Germany, with opportunities to participate in projects worldwide. You will manage, execute, and acquire projects related to cables, building your understanding of our market and delivering high-quality results.

Our projects target owners of electrical systems, project developers, manufacturers, insurers, and other stakeholders working with AC and DC cable systems in medium, high, and extra-high voltage networks. Our core team in Dresden is a global leader in expertise and experience, often collaborating internationally and across DNV offices. Our Dresden location is notable.

About you

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in land and/or subsea cable technology
  • Academic background in physics, electrical engineering, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge in cable technology, design, and quality assurance of energy cables
  • Familiarity with the latest IEC standards and CIGRE guidelines, with the ability to apply them

You are capable of working independently and responsibly, eager to learn new skills, and enthusiastic about taking on challenging tasks. With initiative, adaptability, and excellent collaboration skills, you are a committed team player willing to share knowledge and work collectively.

You possess excellent communication skills in German and English, both oral and written. You are also willing to travel regularly within Germany and internationally.
